The Full Monty
Based on the original film, but with an new musical score, this has proved to be a very successful show for companies to produce. The stage set is mainly a serious of vingettes ensure the show is fast moving and easy to operate. The climax of the show is the strip at the where the boys decide to bare all and go The Fully Monty and the light rig which spells The Full Monty ensure the finale blinder at the right point, providing the operator is on que.
The Scenes
ACT ONE
The Strip Club
The opening scene is usually played in front of a slash curtain. The compère introduces the acts
whilst members of the company scream and encourage the stripper from the auditorium.
The Union Meeting
The union meeting is played with the stylised building cloth and set with the two build / house
trucks pushed in from either side. The union sign can be used if you have flying facilities.
Outside the Club
The outside of the club uses two trucks SR & SL. Four boards are provided for companies to post
their own advertising banners for the club. These for example, maybe pictures of their stripper. The
two trucks revolves to expose the inside of the club for the next scene.
Inside the Club
The SL / SR trucks are revolved to expose the gents urinals and WC. A small truck with 3 sink
units upon it is pushed on from the wings. When at the sink, the girls use imaginary mirrors whilst
facing the audience. Jerry and Dave can be seen inside the cubical by the audience, but not by
the girls. Please note, the Urinals, WC and the Sinks are non-practical.
Outside Pam’s House
The outside of Pam’s House is played in the main set with just the use of a door to represent the
house. The door itself is practical.
Power Jog
The power jog ends up with Dave and Jerry by chance, finding a guy inside of a car attempting
suicide. It will enhance the scene if a little stage smoke is used inside the car. A smaller, half is
available as an option.
Dance Lessons
The Dance Club is played in front of stage blacks.
The Auditions
Again this uses the main set, but with two flown flats depicting an old office. There is a piano SR.
Dave / Harold’s Bedroom
This scene goes between two bedrooms using stage lights.
ACT TWO
The Works Canteen
Stage blacks are used here. There is a vending machine plus a table with four attached seats for
the factory workers to sit at.
Nathan’s Sofa
Again, this scene is played as a small vignette with just a sofa to depict Jerry’s bedsit. The side
table is not supplied.
Harold’s House
If flying permits, a set of drapes are flown for which appear to be curtains to the front of Harold’s
House. These can be closed according to the script and allow for the entrance of the girls. If
you are unable to fly, we suggest that you use front of house tabs or this scene is played to the
audience with imaginary curtains. A dummy Sony Triniton TV is supplied.
Dave’s WC / Bedroom
Used with the bed and WC Truck or just the WC Truck.
The Police Station
The counter truck is used for this scene.
The Graveside
The Dug Grave Cut-Out frame is used for this scene.
Backstage
Use of dressing room tables with stools. The lights around the mirror frames are practical.
The Stage
The ‘Full Monty’ sign is revealed creating a spectacular finale sequence. The sign itself is fully
functional to support the visions of your lighting designer.
